It was a big year for Atwell in the Southeast, bookmarked by acquisitions, expansions, and record-breaking revenue growth, all of which has led ENR’s editorial team to select Atwell as ENR Southeast’s Design Firm of the Year.
The Southfield, Michigan-based firm kicked off the year by acquiring Florida-based Banks Engineering, and in April opened a Birmingham, Ala. office, following up with more Southeastern acquisitions in Miami, Boca Raton and Baton Rouge. The firm, now with about 1,800 employees across the country, says in its submission to ENR Top Design Firms survey that last year, it “added four new engineering, planning and surveying offices, $11 million in (Florida) revenue, and over 100 new employees,” marking “one of the largest examples of statewide growth our firm has experienced.”
Atwell unveiled a new website and earned a recognition from the Zweig Group as a Best Firm to Work for kept the 2024 ball rolling, and in December, the Atwell Gives Foundation announced a new philanthropic initiative to partner with Science Olympiad.
In the field, Atwell provided civil engineering and survey services for two institutes and an energy plant at Orlando Health’s campus expansion, including the Orlando Health Digestive Health Institute, and the 2024 ENR Southeast Best Projects winner in the healthcare category, the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute.
Read more about the firm and its stellar year in the June 9 edition of ENR Texas & Southeast, which will also rank the region’s Top Design Firms.
