ENR Mountain States & Southwest has selected PCL Construction as Contractor of the Year for Colorado and Wyoming. The contractor grew from $434 million in revenue in 2023 to $500 million in 2024 as a result of key projects in aviation, commercial mixed-use developments, education, hospitality and government/public facilities.
PCL is wrapping up a complicated revitalization of the iconic 16th Street pedestrian and transit mall in the heart of Denver and redeveloping Cherry Lane and 201 Fillmore in the Cherry Creek North neighborhood. The contractor was recently awarded two hotel restoration projects in Aspen – The Little Nell and Mountain Chalet hospitality properties – and the firm’s civil infrastructure division is addressing the region’s demand for water and wastewater infrastructure with the Klein Water Treatment Facility in Commerce City, Colo.
In 2024, PCL’s Denver-based office raised nearly $630,000 for Mile High United Way, contributing to a 27-year total of $21.2 million. The contractor also donated $35,000 to support programs including Women United, an initiative that connects women to essential resources such as safe housing, job opportunities and quality childcare, and sponsored the annual Women United luncheon. Firm employees support the work of Food Bank of the Rockies, part of a $77,000 donation PCL has made to food banks across the country.
Firms of the Year are chosen by a vote of the regional ENR editors from across the country based on a carefully selected group of finalists. Factors include revenue growth, new initiatives, current projects, community and industry contributions and other considerations.
A story on PCL will appear in the August 25 print issue of ENR Mountain States and Southwest, which will also feature our annual ranking of the top construction firms across the recently-merged seven-state region of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Fill out a survey to be included in this year’s ranking at this link. Surveys are being accepted through July 18.
