Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. is planning to construct a biomedical research and development facility in San Diego. The estimated $1.1-billion West Coast Biomedical Research Hub project’s scope includes design and construction of building space; purchase and installation of fume hoods, stainless steel piping, refrigeration/freezers, and wet laboratory, formulation, testing, filtration and air handling equipment and systems. A construction schedule is being developed; project completion is expected in 2028 or 2029. Novartis, which will use the facility for research and development, plans to construct four manufacturing plants at unselected U.S. sites. Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. Mississippi

Entergy Mississippi, Inc. is planning to construct a combined-cycle, natural gas-fired power plant and electrical substation on a 75-acre site in Ridgeland. The estimated $1-billion project’s scope includes construction of building space, equipment foundations and spill containment systems; installation of combustion turbine and generator sets, heat-recovery steam generators and steam turbine and generators; and the purchase and installation of water treatment and storage systems, cooling towers, transformers, switchgear and emissions control equipment. Site preparation for the estimated 760-MW plant is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2025, with construction expected to start in 2026. Texas

Eli Lilly and Co. is considering constructing a $5.9-billion active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) manufacturing campus on a 236-acre site at the Generation Park in Houston. The project’s scope includes the design and construction of multiple buildings with cleanroom space, offices, tank farm, a central utility plant and wastewater treatment, production and oligomerization facilities; as well as the purchase and installation of stainless steel tanks and piping, chemical storage tanks, reactors, process vessels and filtration, purification, filling, packaging and wastewater treatment equipment and systems. Construction is expected to begin in 2026.
